The Amaro "Black" Amacardo is a unique specialty, made using as its main ingredient the wild artichoke of Etna. It is a variety of the island’s spontaneous fauna, which grows in the valleys that lie at the foot of the volcano. The mild and ventilated climate and volcanic soils, rich in mineral sands, have always been the ideal habitat for this valuable variety of wild artichokes. Its intense taste, slightly bitter, is perfect for making a liqueur that can represent the authentic face of the territory, its aromas, its flavors, its true identity, traditions and history.

The "Black" is an Amaro indissolubly linked to the terroir of the volcano. The brand of the Sicilian distillery Amacardo was born in Catania just to enhance local products and make known the best excellence of this fascinating corner of Sicily. The project is based on the creation of a range of labels inspired by the rediscovery of the most ancient traditions, with liqueurs capable of telling the peculiarities of the territory. This is how the idea of using wild thistle (Cynara Cardunculus Sylvestris) was born, also known as Etna artichoke to make a bitter with a unique and original taste, which in addition to a particularly pleasant taste, also has digestive properties.

Amaro "Black" Amacardo is a bottle with a strong and decisive personality, to be tasted in company at the end of a meal. It is appreciated for an original taste, far from the standardized production of industrial bitters. The glass has a dark and dense amber color, with bright reflections. The olfactory profile is characterized by very intense scents of medicinal herbs, aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis, hints of bark, slight nuances of soft oriental spices on an enveloping background of wild artichoke. The entrance to the palate is particularly charming and harmonious, with a sip that expresses a pleasing sweetness, well tempered by a close on fresh and bitter notes, which give the bitterness a perfect balance of taste.
