Ferrando's Carema "Etichetta Bianca" is a pure Nebbiolo produced in the Alto Piemonte area. An elegant red that perfectly expresses the characteristics and style of mountain wines, fresh and delicate. The bouquet is particularly refined, with scents of dried flowers, hints of rose, aromas of small berries and subtle spicy nuances. The sip is complex and deep, with a long, refreshing finish.
Carema "Etichetta Bianca" is one of the most interesting expressions of the Nebbiolo grape variety outside the Langhe area. The Carema area is located almost at the mouth of the Aosta Valley, and the vineyards are cultivated on terraces created with dry stone walls and columns, which support the pergola-trained vines. Vineyards that represent the true architectures of the landscape, which are cultivated on mountain slopes, on soils of ancient morainic origin, rich in pebbles and with living rock almost outcropping. Heroic viticulture is very tiring and all manual. The Nebbiolo grapes are harvested in the second half of October and sent to temperature-controlled fermentation in steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for about ten days. Before being put on the market, it is then aged for 36 months, 30 of which are in oak barrels.
Ferrando's Carema "Etichetta Bianca" is a splendid mountain Nebbiolo, which plays its best expressive cards not on the side of power and concentration but of finesse, freshness and elegance. In the glass, it is a beautiful garnet red. The nose opens to scents of rose petals, dried flowers, small red berries and delicate spicy nuances. The palate has a good structure, with an intense and complex centre of the mouth. The tannic texture is dense and well integrated with the body of the wine, which pleasantly lengthens toward a fresh and slightly spicy finish.
