Chardonnay Aaldering 2018

The Chardonnay produced by Aaldering Vineyards & Wines is a mature and aromatically rich version of the famous white Burgundy wine. It originates in South Africa's Stellenbosch region, one of the country's most vocational areas, which can look back on centuries of viticultural history. It is a label with an international profile, inspired by French models also in the use of wood in the various stages of vinification. The result is a smooth, enveloping Chardonnay with intense, deep aromas, ranging from yellow fruit to notes of honey and vanilla.

The white Chardonnay was born in a young company, which quickly established itself for the quality of its wines. Aaldering Vineyards & Wines operates some 20 hectares in the Stellenbosch region. The culture of viticulture was brought to these lands in the late 1600s by the French Huguenots, who immediately realised the potential of an area with a mild climate, thanks to the influence of the ocean. The estate is located in the heart of the Winelands and has proved very suitable for growing the most important international varieties, both white and red. The Chardonnay vineyards are located a few tens of kilometres from the coast, at an altitude of about 150 metres above sea level, with a sunny south-westerly exposure. The harvest yields rich, ripe grapes, which are softly pressed after picking. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, in stainless steel tanks and in wood. The wine matures a few months in oak barrels before being bottled.

The Chardonnay Aaldering wine perfectly reflects the character of the terroir, with a fullness and aromatic density that is particularly intense, accentuated by the choice of ageing in wood. In the glass it has a light yellow colour with brilliant golden reflections and an open and very expressive bouquet, reminiscent of ripe yellow fruit, tropical fruit, honeyed softness, hints of vanilla and spices. It has a good structure on the palate, with a broad and complex sip that anticipates a persistent and very harmonious finish. An interesting bottle to discover a new face of Chardonnay.
