'Due Rosso' Giannitessari 2021

"Due" by Giannitessari reveals its dual nature right from its name. This red wine is crafted by the Giannitessari winery using a special process that replicates the technique used to produce Ripasso della Valpolicella, where the re-fermentation process results in a bottle of high quality. This label stems from the desire and passion of Gianni, a character who prefers to call himself a sculptor rather than a winemaker, seeing each grape as a block of stone within which an artwork already exists, waiting to be freed.

The Giannitessari winery creates this red wine "Due" from a blend where two international grape varieties, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, contribute equally to the final cut. The grapes come from the estate vineyards located around Vicenza and Sarego. Once they arrive at the vinification facilities, two-thirds of the grapes ferment in steel tanks for 20 days at controlled temperatures. The remaining portion undergoes a light drying process in the drying loft, before being assembled to trigger a second re-fermentation of the total grape mass. This is followed by the aging phase, carried out for two years in 40-hectoliter oak barrels.

The "Due" by Giannitessari presents itself in the glass with a color reminiscent of garnet red. The bouquet of aromas that follows on the nose tells of notes of ripe fruit, flowers, and sensations that shift towards the mineral and toasted. On the palate, it is full-bodied, balanced, with a subtle and soft sip at the same time, from which a finely crafted tannin emerges. A bottle that showcases Gianni's great passion for the world of wine, which has seen him as an absolute protagonist of Veneto winemaking since the 1980s.
