Essenzia Pojer e Sandri 2022 - 37.5cl

Essenzia is a sweet wine made by the Trentino winery Pojer e Sandri only in favorable vintages, when the weather conditions allow for harvesting in autumn perfectly healthy grapes, with intense aromas and affected by Botrytis cinerea, a mold capable of imparting the typical moldy notes reminiscent of great French Sauternes. It is a high-quality wine, complex, rich, and harmonious, characterized by a remarkably charming aromatic palette, aiming for a perfect balance between fruity softness and freshness.

The sweet wine Essenzia Pojer e Sandri is a cuvée made from a blend of white grape varieties from the area: Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Riesling Renano, Gewürztraminer, Kerner, as well as some PIWI varieties. The vineyards are cultivated in different locations of the estate: in Faedo in the locality of Coveli at an altitude of 350 meters with a west exposure and in the locality of Palai, at 700 meters above sea level, with a south-facing exposure, on soils of sandstone, marl, and dolomite; in Grumes in Val di Cembra, in the locality of Maso Rella,at an extreme altitude of 800-900 meters, facing south, on rocky soils of volcanic porphyries. The plants are cultivated according to the traditional Trentino pergola method and the harvest takes place at the end of November, beginning of December, with selection of the bunches affected by noble rot. After pressing, the dense must ferments slowly in steel tanks and matures, always in steel, before being bottled.

The dessert wine Essenzia, made by Pojer e Sandri, is one of the few muffati produced in our peninsula, a precious and rare bottle, to be enjoyed on special occasions with a platter of blue cheeses or long-aged cheeses. It seduces with a bright light yellow color with slight golden reflections and with intoxicating aromas of ripe yellow fruit, peach, dehydrated apricot, tropical hints of pineapple, mango, lychee, passion fruit, honeyed softness, and refined muffled nuances that enrich the bouquet. Seductive and harmonious, it has a dense and enveloping entry on the palate, with complex aromas that offer a gentle fruity sweetness,well balanced by a vein of clear freshness.
