The Pecorino “Kerrias” from Tenuta del Priore is a typical Abruzzese wine, made with the homonymous indigenous white grape, recovered a few decades ago after a long period of abandonment. The Pecorino is a grape variety that expresses wines with intense aromas and vibrant freshness, and the choice of vinification only in steel enhances its rich varietal profile, which expresses aromas of medicinal herbs, citrus, and floral nuances. Due to its structure and aromatic depth, it is a wine with a strong gastronomic vocation, very suitable for pairing with fish dishes or white meats.
The white Pecorino “Kerrias” is born in the hinterland of Pescara, particularly in the area of Collecorvino. It is in this splendid hilly area that in the seventies Tenuta del Priore came to life, a reality of about forty hectares with vineyards planted between 150 and 300 meters above sea level. The particular microclimate of the area is influenced by the proximity of the Gran Sasso, the Maiella, and the gentle breezes of the Adriatic Sea. The sunny exposures, sunny, the significant temperature excursions, and the highly suitable soils, composed of limestone, silt, and clays, have proven to be perfect conditions for quality viticulture. In the choice of grape varieties, the company has favored those varieties that have always been cultivated in the land of Abruzzo: in particular, Montepulciano, Trebbiano, and Pecorino. Thus, wines are born that are the perfect combination of grape and territory, without ever losing sight of traditions.
The wine Pecorino “Kerrias” from Tenuta del Priore is an Abruzzese white produced with grapes from vineyards cultivated at about 250 meters above sea level with southeast exposure, on soils predominantly composed of calcareous marls. At the end of the harvest, fermentation in steel takes place, followed by aging, also in steel tanks, for at least four months. In the glass, it presents a bright straw-yellow hue. The bouquet is characterized by intense aromas reminiscent of Mediterranean scrub herbs, fragrant aromas of citrus and fresh fruit, soft hints of tropical fruit, notes of almond, and iodized andmarine. On the palate, it shows good structure, with a broad, rich, and expressive sip, which unfolds with vibrant freshness towards a finish characterized by savory notes.
